I have not had LASIK done (here or anywhere). I have been waffling about getting it done for years and finally worked up my nerve to at least get a consult and find out if I’m a candidate. I am a candidate, and this would be very exciting news if I could afford their pretty high price tag (just shy of $6k) at the moment. Life goals.
Staff: These guys were **great**. The reception staff, Jim (I see other Yelpers also appreciate his knowledge and friendliness), the technician, and the consulting doctor who analyzed my test results and ran a few more: everyone was so welcoming, so educated on their specialty and up front about expectations, and so reassuring. It was just an awesome experience.
Timing: I expected a brief session but I was in there for about an hour and a half between all the stages of the exam, a bit of wait time, and a nice long chat about logistics and payment options. Although you can’t use health insurance of any kind for this procedure, you do get a discount if you have a VSP rider on your insurance (or you can use HSA/FSA funds).
Facility: Super clean and well organized. Kind of like a high-end doctor’s office–not exactly a spa experience but perfectly nice, and the (literal) transparency into the operating room is a nice touch. Oh, and easy free parking, in case you were worried.
I would have 100% confidence that my eyes were in maximally capable hands at TLC for either LASIK or PRK–and some day when I can afford it, I will test this theory and report back.
