TLC Laser Eye Center – This place has a great set of personable, informed, medical professionals who really put you as the individual at the center of the experience. I went in for an initial consultation without removing my contacts and my cornea was too thin.
I was instructed to take 2-3 weeks off without contacts, and allow my cornea to heal, put drops in my eyes every hour during that period, and to return for another consultation. It turns out my cornea was about 3 microns too thin for the doctor to feel comfortable completing a PRK procedure on me. I’m very happy with the ethical standards this company has. They could have just taken my money and done it. but I’m grateful for a facility that prides themselves in doing what’s best for the patient.
In my particular case, if I were to proceed, I could end up with a condition where the cornea begins to bulge outward, an irreversible condition due to the structural integrity of the cornea that remains after surgery (could lead to blindness!!) Short-term results are not what I’m looking for and am now looking into an additive surgery (permanent contact lenses embedded into my eyes) rather than subtractive such as Lasik and PRK.
I recall hearing a woman leaving after the operation very elated repeatedly stating “I can see! I can see!!” lol wish it could have been me but I guess soft contact lenses aren’t so bad after all.
The only reason I am giving 4-stars rather than 5-stars is because I can’t attest to their surgical excellence from my own personal experience.
